She represented Pakistan at various international forums and received several prestigious awards for her accomplishments. At age 16, Arfa suffered a cardiac arrest and brain damage from an epileptic seizure. Despite receiving treatment from an international panel of doctors assisted by Bill Gates, she passed away in January 2012. In her honor, a technology park in Lahore was renamed the Arfa Software Technology Park.
